About Us

Field Forward Ohio (FFO) is an Ohio-based engagement firm that focuses on all aspects of community and electoral field work: voter engagement and registration, petition collection, canvass programs, and door-to-door campaign work. At FFO, we anchor winning campaigns while building long-term power for the communities we work and partner with.

We are part of a national network of movement-aligned firms and the Field Forward Network. Field Forward affiliates currently exist in Florida, Arizona, and Michigan.

Our History

Founded by long-time grassroots organizers who have been doing electoral work and community organizing in Ohio for the past 20 years, this company is based on four core ideas:

FFO launched in January of 2018 and worked in every region of the state carrying out contracts to do voter registration, petition collection, and get out the vote efforts. FFO consistently employed 150 canvassers from March to election day and managed offices in Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, Youngstown, and East Liverpool in addition to a roaming rural and small town team.

State-based community and labor organizations are better served by an in-state field vendor that is accountable to them, can do work on off years, and prioritizes building power over short-term profits. FFO is unlike other vendors because it cares not only about what is left behind after an election cycle or a campaign but also takes responsibility for what happens afterward.

We invest most of our profits back into organizations, campaigns, and elections here in Ohio. The electoral industry is massive, moving billions of dollars each cycle and generating millions of dollars in profit for a set of well-connected firms. FFO is proving that we can be a successful company and reinvest those profits into visionary organizing in politics in our states.

Field vendors employ hundreds of people and should serve as an essential component of the Ohio leadership pipeline, hiring people directly impacted by the issues we are trying to address and having embedded popular education programs for everyone who passes through the door.

Firms should be integrated with a long-term strategy and be part of the path to progressive governance. FFO is a component of an organizing strategy and infrastructure in the state vs. a short-term-for-hire approach that leaves very little behind.
